I’m so thrilled to have ‘My Crowning Glory’ selected for the 195th RHA Annual Exhibition.
It’s my first time to have a painting accepted for this show. Over 4,600 artworks were entered and 420 were chosen so it’s quite exciting 🥳
‘My Crowning Glory’ is a new painting where I’ve delved inside a pomegranate. Doors open on a hinged triptypch to show its exquisite interior. A tree arches over the fruit inspired by The Dark Hedges, a magnificent avenue of overarching Beech trees in Antrim.
My interest lies in exploring our interconnectedness and relationships with the natural world through visual storytelling, symbolism and playfulness in painting. The highly decorative style and hinged door structure of Iconography and Sacred Art influences my practice. This ornate way of painting honours the preciousness of the subject matter.
The Royal Hibernian Academy is at 15 Ely Place, Dublin 2 and the exhibition is open to the public from May 26th to August 3rd. Looking forward to it!
