Description
I am a member of Bridge Street Studios (workspace/ gallery/ artist collective). In 2020 it was our 25th anniversary. We had a exhibition themed ‘Silver’ to celebrate and commissioned a local poet Barbara Smith to write us a poem for further inspiration. I painted this watercolour as an ornate weaving of symbols to convey the words of the beautiful poem below…
‘Silver’
for the artists at Bridge St, on their anniversary
The slow, silver heartbreak of another day,
Tarnished reflections in the grey.
Gossamer webs of autumn
spun across branches of our lives,
reflect motes that gather
urgent hints
at hidden things, entwining strings
which disappear in an unexpected gleaming,
revealing new silver dew drops,
steaming
as the sun reveals the tendrils
of morning — a new day.
