‘The Veil is Thin’ is based on the cottages at Cill Rialaig artist residency in Kerry. They are built out of the ruins of a 1790s pre-famine village. It’s a remote place on a narrow road deep into Bolus Head at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I have stayed there a few times and wanted to express the isolated and eerie yet magical atmosphere.
